Galatians 5:23prautes (anavah)- meekness (gentleness)Meekness is not weakness or passivity; rather, it can be described as an humble behavior of the mind and heart portraying calmness of spirit that is contrary to human will. It is directed by The Holy Spirit. It is neither haughty in attitude, nor cast down in despair. This mildness of disposition must first be toward God by our acknowledgment that we all have sinned, and we are not perfect in ourselves. We are to fully rely upon God’s Authority and His Power to defend us against injustice. By trusting in God’s Strength to bring us through any situation, we therefore are realizing His Goodness and Control over our circumstances. Gentleness shows a non-threatening outlook that calms others, and it also strengthens our hearts toward God. Refer also to 1 Corinthians 4:20-21 and 1 Peter 3:15
